A native of South Africa, Darrell moved to the US in 1990 at the age of 19 for a four-year electrical apprenticeship in Florida before heading to Seattle. In 1997 he started his own company dedicated to building a business that excels in its field, takes care of its people, and builds positive client-contractor relationships.

In a team or at the helm, Darrell makes it a point to treat everyone like family. From supporting his employees and advising customers to being a husband and dad of three, his focus is on ensuring each one of these interactions is handled with care and respect.

When it’s time to turn off the lights and head home, Darrell can’t get enough soccer (Go Liverpool and Ballard FC), golf, hiking, and listening to his record collection. His favorite movie is Bottle Rocket.

Matt Morningstar

Service Manager, Journeyman Electrician

Matt, a Seattle-area native is at the forefront of our customer interactions. After completing high school, Matt believed that learning a skill was his top priority. After visiting several apprenticeship programs, Matt chose the electrical trade which he believed would be the most challenging and rewarding.

Matt considers his kindness and great customer service to be his favorite tools of the trade. If he wasn’t working as Mirsky’s Service Manager, Matt would be a master Lego builder.

Matt lives in Federal Way with his wife and two kids. His mom, who lives in the attached mother-in-law, is always available to babysit.

On the weekends Matt loves to help coach his son’s basketball team, watch the NFL, and hang out with family. Matt’s favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption.

Grant has an extensive knowledge of the electrical code, experience with knob and tube rewiring, service changes, and troubleshooting. His favorite tool in his Lineman’s pliers. The most rewarding part of his job is completing an often challenging scope of work, making a house electrically safer, and having a happy customer at the end of the project.

Grant, a single dad, lives in West Seattle with his daughter Ruby, her 130 stuffed animals, and two pet jellyfish.

Weekends are spent taking his daughter to a movie, the museum, zoo, or aquarium. Grant also volunteers as equipment manager for Ruby’s soccer team. Other hobbies include hiking, fishing, skiing, and shooting pool. His favorite movie is Reservoir Dogs.

Seamus Figueras

Seamus grew up in Santa Barbara, California and as a young adult began working with his dad, a general contractor. Seamus decided to become an electrician because of all the trades, electrical interested him the most. Seamus joined Mirsky in 2018, and considers the salary and job as an electrician very rewarding.

In addition to having a knack for solving customer’s electrical issues, Seamus is proficient in adding new circuits, installing EV chargers, adding or replacing light fixtures, and installing new devices such as dimmers and GFI receptacles. If he wasn’t so darn good at his job, Seamus would do everything he can to be better at it.

Seamus lives in Federal Way with his wife, two children, and cat. They are expecting another baby in June!

On the weekend, if he isn’t cheering on the Seahawks, you will find Seamus spending quality time with his family, coaching youth basketball, golfing or fishing. His favorite movie is Step Brothers.

True Bohrman

Journeyman Electrician

True grew up in Prescott, Arizona, a cowboy south-western type town with great hiking and outdoor recreation.

True was always fascinated with electricity growing up, and did not find a subject in school that he wanted to study in college. True has an affinity for working with his hands and found his place in electrical after exploring both carpentry and plumbing after high school. “As an electrician it doesn’t get better than flipping the breaker and seeing the lights come on again.” If he wasn’t so darn good at his job, True’s other calling would be professional kite surfer.

True has traveled throughout the entire continental United States, with the exception of Alaska. His main hobby is making music, and playing the drums.

True lives in Ballard with his dog, Bourbon that he raised since he was a little puppy. His favorite movie is The Godfather Part Two.

Chris Keane

Journeyman Electrician

When asked why he chose the electrical trade, Chris responded that “Electricity is the energy that drives all of the modern world with nigh on endless applications”. Chris says that having a job that helps people feel secure in the proper utilization of that gives him a feeling of fulfillment. He also feels a sense of self satisfaction with the problem solving and critical thinking that comes with delivering that.

If he wasn’t so good at his job, Chris would be a chef or physical therapist.

When not testing circuits with his multimeter, you can find Chris skiing, playing disc golf, or cooking.

Chris, a Seattle-area native lives with his partner. His favorite movie is Tombstone.

Ben Shapero

Journeyman Electrician

Ben grew up in Dana Point, a hilly beach town in southern California. He chose the electrical trade because he finds it engaging both physically and mentally. The most rewarding part of his job is going home every day knowing he’s made his city a safer place to live.

Ben’s favorite tool is his insulated flathead screwdriver. If he wasn’t so darn good at his job, he would be a Calvin Klein model.

In his spare time Ben likes making candles, climbing rocks, and hammocking when the weather permits.

Ben periodically tutors K-12 math and science for the King County Public Library’s Study Zone program.

His favorite movies are a tie between “O Breaker, Where Art Thou?” and “Raiders of the Lost Spark.”

Adam Kahn

Journeyman Electrician

Adam grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana. He chose the electrical trade because he always liked physics and understanding how things work. Adam derives a lot of satisfaction from working with his hands and solving problems. The most rewarding part of his job is the reaction he gets from clients at the transformation in their home after completing a job.

Adam has worked as a snowboard instructor around the world, enjoys salsa dancing, reading, tennis, and making flower bouquets.

Adam serves on the board of directors for a non-profit serving those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

His favorite movies are Mr Bean, Borat, and The Grand Budapest Hotel

Ross Chubarov

Electrical Trainee

Ross moved to the United States from Eastern Europe, first settling in Portland, OR and eventually landing in Tacoma. Ross was undecided about going to college and wanted more time before making that decision. Some friends in the electrical trade encouraged him to go to trade school, and he had mentors who supported his endeavor. Ross found that the electrical trade is so vast that he will always have something to learn.

Ross’s favorite tool is his lineman’s pliers. “They’re cutters, a hammer, and provide great traction when you need to pull on a wet fishtape through conduit.”

When not using his pliers, Ross enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, and building desktop computers.

Ross lives on Capital Hill with his partner and black cat Misa. His favorite movie is Zoolander and has been told that he does a “Blue Steel” when photographed.

The Story AND Evolution Behind Our Logo

1997 — The Beginning

When I started my electrical company in 1997, the Yellow Pages was the go-to for electrical contractors to advertise their business to the local communities. To get my name to the top of the alphabetical list, I chose the word “Action” and used the letter A with a lightning bolt and plug for the logo.

2000 — Updated Branding

I updated the logo to an easier-to-read font and to establish us as a company that responds promptly.

2004 — Name Change

I changed the name to Mirsky Electric to clearly distinguish us from the competition and demonstrate that we stand behind our name. The print version of the Yellow Pages was obsolete, so ensuring the company name was first alphabetically no longer mattered.

2014 — Office Relocation

Our office relocated from Wallingford to Ballard. My kids would attend karate lessons nearby and then stop by the office on their way home.

2016 — Brand Refresh

We refreshed the Mirsky brand, including a new logo, website, and marketing material. The logo went through several iterations before we settled on the current version.

Today — Current Design

Our current logo includes the year I started Mirsky Electric as well as our location. The hexagon shape was inspired by a soccer club’s badge, and the copper color represents electrical wire that is used in our industry.  The lightning bolts were inspired by Led Zeppelin’s Mothership album.  The silhouette is of two electricians. The one on the left is testing a circuit with a multimeter, while the one on the right is cutting a wire with a lineman’s pliers.  If you look closely, there is a lightbulb dangling between the two silhouettes.
