Team Mirsky
Darrell Mirsky
I have long been fascinated with how we power our world. Following my childhood in South Africa I moved to the US at 19 for a 4 year electrical apprenticeship in South Florida before heading north to the Emerald City. After seeing both customers and colleagues frustrated by their home electrical experiences, I started my own company in 1997 dedicated to creating positive client-contractor relationships.
In a team or at the helm, I make it a point to treat everyone like family. From supporting my employees and advising customers to being a husband and dad of three, my focus is on ensuring each one of these interactions is handled with care and respect. When it’s time to turn off the lights and head home, I can’t get enough soccer (Go Ballard FC), hiking, golf, and listening to my record collection.

I became an electrician because I enjoy working with my hands. After joining Mirsky as an apprentice in 2005, I earned my Journeyman card in 2009. Since my promotion to Service Manager, I have been focused on making sure our customers are 100% satisfied.
I feel strongly invested in my work and look forward to growing further in my career. It feels great knowing that working for Mirsky Electric allows us to create safer and more reliable homes. The only thing better than helping customers and other families just like us is coming home to my wife and son. Well, and seeing the Mariners win!

FAQ
Covering the Seattle–Tacoma–Everett–Bellevue regions.
Are you licensed to work in Washington State, and can you provide proof of General Liability and Worker’s Compensation Insurance?
Mirsky Electric, Inc. is a registered contractor in the State of Washington (Lic# MIRSKEI964D2), and is bonded in accordance with Washington State contractor requirements. Our insurance includes $2 million business coverage, with General Liability and Worker’s Compensation policies.
Contractor registration and information may be verified with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries.
What are your rates and do you charge for estimates?
Each client project is bid on an individual basis, dependent on the type and scope of work. We can provide both hourly and project-based estimates which are free of charge. Some standard projects can be estimated over the phone while complex projects may require a site visit and additional research to provide a more accurate quote.
Do you do commercial or condo work?
We prefer to specialize in residential electrical systems so we can provide expert services and troubleshooting capabilities specific to the issues found in homes. This also allows us to keep our knowledge base of residential electrical codes and best practices super sharp, so we’re always prepared to offer the best solution for the job.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept checks and bank transfer. You can make a payment with VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Apple Pay. A convenience fee of 3% of our final invoice is charged for Credit Cards payments.
Can I perform some of the electrical work myself?
The electrical trade is one of a select few specialty trades that requires extensive licensing and continuing education. Due to the level of the risk involved from improperly installed components, we recommend you trust a licensed and insured professional to do your electrical work. One thing you can do to reduce costs and get the job done quicker is to make sure your home is ready for electrical work to be done prior to the arrival of our crew. Working in an environment that is free and clear of clutter allows us to be as efficient as possible with your time and ours.
Do I need to get an electrical permit?
Depending on the scope of work you will almost always need a permit. Labor & Industries performs most inspections throughout the state, but some cities do their own electrical inspections. As part of the services we offer, we can help you secure the necessary permit required for your job. Costs will vary depending on the specific work performed and the location of the site.
Why am I being charged a travel fee?
Our dedicated team mates are community members from all over the Seattle area who travel throughout the day to service your home quickly and efficiently. In order to ensure our trucks are well maintained and employees are always compensated for their time, we charge a nominal travel fee to cover basic costs. We’ve found that providing a positive and beneficial work environment to our employees allows us to offer a level of service that our competitors cannot and we think you’ll find it’s well worth it.
Why do you have a surcharge for supplies?
We take the worry out of parts selection by thoroughly reviewing brands for quality and performance. While we do offer our clients the opportunity to purchase their own materials, for the most part we take the time to select and stock parts that are on hand to save you time and money. This also allows us to avoid hidden or surprise costs, so you get realistic quotes and guaranteed high-caliber electrical services every time. Please note that only parts provided by Mirsky can qualify for warranty.
